- 18-Nov-09
- Bed occupied with Tomatoes; many plants (at shin-height) suddenly pruned by Bushbuck. Bah! They should mostly recover, but it has knocked them back.
- Nov-08
- Cleared the bed of weeds and rampant CapeGooseberry plants. Soil is in unexpectedly good condition (not brilliant, just better than expected!) though not very deep. To be expected since it is only a year old. Probably needs double digging again, but no time this year, nor sufficient compost. Left a couple of CapeGooseberry plants in for eating (if the MouseBirds leave us any) and for seed. A volunteer GranadillaPlant also got left in, and a tripod provided for support. Beneath the shade of the tripod is a mystery Serrano-like Chilli -- also kept as my sole source of fresh Chilli. Remainder of the bed planted to (N to S) ResiGoldTomato (6 plants), GalapagosOrangeTomato (5 plants) and YellowTaxiTomato (5 plants) separated by gaps for beans (or something) later in the season.
- Jan-09
- YellowTaxiTomato reduced to 3 plants by cutworm, but those 3 look pretty healthy. Gaps planted to RattlesnakeBean in 3x4 formation.
