Lost the last of the RocotoAmarillo Chile plants. ;-(

Yesterday was excessively hot -- temps into the mid-30's, together with killer winds. Most plants showing severe strain, despite a cooling sprinkle late-morning. House dam is almost totally empty. Several losses esp. Tomatoes in GardenBed7 which are only recently translanted and lack well-developed roots, and some of the small Chile plants in GardenBed11.

First Chilli seedling emerged 15 Aug. Sowed Tomatoes (+-20 varieties) in seed-trays; also GreenTomatillo and BlackBeautyEggplant; also more Chillis in seed-tray -- Jalapeño, SweetBanana, RedHat and Habanero with the intention of crossing JalapeñoXHabanero and SweetBananaXSerrano. Sowed HunterBean direct (3x2 seeds) and 2 tipi's of RattlesnakeBeans both in GardenBed6 (which still has some Chilli plants left over from last Summer surviving the Winter handily!) Sowed 6 MoonAndStarsWatermelom in a 6-pack; sowed 18 PurpleArtichoke in 6-packs.

Start of the season, we're still in drought. Not a drop of rain so far for August. Sowed BlackFutsuSquash and TableQueenSquash, GardenBed1 and ButternutSquash along the veg-garden fence. No compost.
